Welcome to the Lichfield Science and Engineering Society website.
Are you
interested in science and technology in any field from Astronomy
to Zoology?
If so you
should join the LICHFIELD SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING SOCIETY which
was founded in 1985 to cater for just such interests.
The LICHFIELD
SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING SOCIETY is the modern day counterpart of
the LUNAR SOCIETY which, although much smaller in number comprised
the leading scientists of the late eighteenth century who were influential
in the development of canals and industry in Britain. They met monthly,
often at the home of Erasmus Darwin - Darwin
House.
The Society
has a membership of over 300 and its meetings are regularly attended
by half of the Membership.
The LICHFIELD
SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING SOCIETY also encourages young people to
study the sciences in schools and to follow a scientific or technological
career.
More information
including how to join is given on the following pages.
