In addition to the educational programme the Society holds several social events during the year at which members can meet in a more relaxed atmosphere. These include the Annual Dinner and the less formal Summer Supper, each with an after-dinner speaker. Recent topics have been The Staffordshire Hoard, Dudley Zoo, Burton Bridge Brewery and the Wedgwood Archives.

There are also regular Discussion Lunches at Darwin House when members can exchange views on a chosen subject of topical interest. The lunches are introduced by a facilitator with an interest in or knowledge of the subject which can be as varied as “Manage your own death”, led by a local GP, “Conscientious Objection to Military Service” led by a Member and “How easy is it to sell us something we didn’t come in for” introduced by the Branch Manager of a local supermarket.

Details of forthcoming events are available to Members in the Members’ Area
