Abigail Hannam has a BSc from St Andrew’s in Experimental Pathology and an MSc from Kings College in Forensic Science. She is employed by the Forensic Science Service as a forensic scientist specializing in the examination of firearms, ammunition and related items, and in the interpretation of firearm-related damage, having worked continuously and exclusively in this field since November 2001.

 

Abigail is a registrant of the Council for the Registration of Forensic Practitioners (CRFP) specializing in Firearms, and in the sub-specialities of Classification and Comparison Microscopy. The CRFP is a regulatory body whose objective is to promote public confidence in forensic practice in the United Kingdom. She is also a member of the Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners and a member of the Forensic Science Society.

 

A guest lecturer at two Universities, she lecture on the subject of firearms, ammunition and firearm-related damage for the ‘Fibres, Firearms and Fire’ module of the BSc degree course in Forensic Science at Kingston University and for the ‘Criminalistics’ module of the BSc degree course in Forensic Science at the London Metropolitan University.
